NDCTM SCHOLARSHIP

  • Requirements for application:
    • Applicant must currently be a college junior who will enter the senior year after receipt of this award
    • Applicant must be nominated by a faculty member who is a current member of NDCTM
    • Degree requirements:
      • Secondary education – pursuing a mathematics major
      • Middle-level education – pursuing a mathematics minor
      • Elementary education – pursuing a mathematics minor or a strong concentration in mathematics
  • Criteria for selection:
    • Strong academic performance
    • School and community involvement
    • Financial need

Distinguished Member Award

  • The nominee must currently be retiring or have previously retired
  • Nominations may be submitted by any member of NDCTM
  • Criteria for selection – nominee’s service should include several of the following:
    • Long-term commitment to NDCTM
    • Service on NDCTM Board of Directors
    • Consistent presenter at conferences
    • Active contributor to the organization

Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)

  • Purposes of award:
    • To honor individual achievement
    • To exemplify the highest standards of mathematics and science teaching
    • To encourage awardees to serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education
  • Eligibility for this award requires that the applicant must:
    • Be a highly qualified teacher
    • Hold a degree or appropriate credentials in the category for which they are applying and must be a full-time teacher in 1 of the 50 states or 4 U.S. jurisdictions
    • Have at least 5 years of mathematics or science teaching experience prior to application
    • Teach mathematics or science at the kindergarten-6th grade level in a public or private school
  • Former PAEMST award winners are not eligible
  • Nomination process:
    • Forms are available online
    • Teachers in grades 7-12 may apply in odd-numbered years
    • Teachers in grades K-6 may apply in even-numbered years
